Pentadel picked to design and deliver new direct-to-consumer German fulfilment centre for Bloom & Wild

Bloom & Wild, the original letterbox online flower delivery company and the UK’s leading flower delivery app, recently opened a fulfilment and distribution centre in Germany thanks to a partnership with Pentadel.

We worked with Bloom & Wild to fast-track the set-up of this facility to meet growing demand for its fresh flower deliveries, including letterbox flowers and hand-tied bouquets, especially during the lockdown and beyond.  The new facility complements its already successful operations in the UK and France.

It took us just six months from finding and securing a suitable location and building, to designing and fully fitting out the 2,500 sqm facility in Bergkamen, near Dortmund.

We had to make sure that the facility was optimised to retain the freshness of the flowers and was also a pleasant and efficient place for Bloom & Wild’s florists to work.  Key to this was the installation of a temperature and humidity controlled environment suitable to maintain and enhance the freshness of the flowers while they were being prepared and packaged by hand for customers.

The client was delighted with the outcome;

“Pentadel Project Management has been the ideal partner in helping us quickly establish a fully functioning direct-to-consumer online fulfilment operation in Germany. Pentadel completed the entire project under budget, successfully progressing from site viewing to opening the facility in just six months.  Pentadel’s expertise and professionalism has been a big part of our rapid expansion in Germany,”

Phill Burton, COO, Bloom & Wild.

The direct-to-consumer (D2C) e-commerce model is growing rapidly here in the UK and across Europe, accelerated by changing consumer behaviours over the past few months due to Covid-19. Now more consumers than ever choosing to shop online and are showing a preference to do so direct from their favourite brands.

“The D2C model is now a compelling business strategy for many producers and brands across numerous sectors and countries.  To best capitalise on this, businesses must ensure that their fulfilment operations are designed to ensure a smooth and high-quality customer experience - from initial click to timely delivery.  We have enjoyed partnering with Bloom & Wild to deliver a modern, efficient and bespoke fulfilment and logistics operation for them in Germany – and are particularly proud to have delivered it on time and under budget, despite the unprecedented circumstances.”
